The third season of the Claflin Hill Apple Tree Arts Chamber Music Series gets underway with our opening concert, coinciding with the finale of the Small Stones Arts Festival in Grafton. CHSO Founder Paul Surapine leads the Claflin Hill Chamber Players, together with Apple Tree Arts Theater performers, in a presentation of Igor Stravinsky’s original multi arts performance work, “L’Histoire du Soldat – A Soldiers Tale” – a setting of the timeless “Faust” story. Acting, drama, poetry, dance, art and music come together to re-tell this thought provoking morality tale.
“AppleTreeArts Faculty Showcase”
The talented faculty of Apple Tree Arts, many of whom are also members of the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, present a “cornucopia” of musical entrees from all genres – from Baroque to Classical to Modern to Broadway!
A sumptuous feast serving up something for every taste.
Copland: Sextet for Clarinet, Piano and String Quartet
Prokofiev: Overture on Hebrew Themes
Weber: Clarinet Quintet
Paul Surapine joins the CHSO Principal Strings in an exciting program featuring works by Sergei Prokofiev and Aaron Copland for Clarinet, String Quartet and Piano. Each work is like a “soul song” from two different cultures. Weber’s rollicking and jubilant Quintet for Clarinet and Strings brings this amazing season to a thrilling climax!
