Bach: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending
Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 “The Choral Symphony” Featuring The New World Chorale
In a world that seems to be increasingly turbulent and volatile, Ludwig van Beethoven’s final symphony, with its “Ode to Joy” based on the Schiller poem has become a “touchstone” for humanity – a musical masterpiece that can bring us all back to center and remind us that indeed, we are all brothers and sisters in this world, and to paraphrase JFK, “we all cherish our children’s futures.”
The New World Chorale joins the CHSO for our second performance of this masterpiece – which heralded the crumbling of dictatorships and repression in the 1990s and an ever brightening future.
